I am posting this Mark Yarnell blog post to simply express to everyone that NWM, (Network Marketing) is not a get rich quick scheme. It is hard work but the rewards are tremendous. With the new year totally in front of us, it is time to choose what we want and what we will settle for in our life. I can’t help but remember from “The Bucket List” movie quote, “if you think the first 40 years went by fast”. It never ceases to amaze me that people will work 40-50 hours a week for over 40 years and get jack %@&# at retirement. Their company could care less about them yet, they persist and perform with an almost knowing of what is to come…Senior Citizen Poverty. Talk about having too much month left after the money.  Try having and extra 15 years of life left after the money.

Isn’t it amazing when you watch on the Biography Channel how successful people made their success? It took years and many rejections and battles against the norm for 100% of them to be considered successful. Yet today, people can’t work extremely hard for 2 years to possibly retire with a strong residual income for the rest of their lives. Go figure. I was fortunate that Mark Yarnell and Gary Archibald were my sponsors over 20 years ago. It is all in the numbers and commitment. Their training still stands the test of time.

I think of my great friend, Vinny Del Negro, coach of the LA Clippers. He came from a small prep school in CT that we both went to with about 350 students total. He had great potential and amazing skills, yet young. He pushed harder than anyone. He became an All-American and went on to attend NC State under the legendary, Coach Jim Valvano. While somewhat over his head initially, he worked harder and  became one of the best players to ever come out of NC State’s program. He was drafted by the Sacremento Kings, perhaps too quickly, then went to Italy to hone his skills. He then got back into the NBA and signed a $12 million contract with the Spurs. After 14 seasons in the NBA he became a coach.  Now, he has coached what most consider to be the worst teams in the NBA, yet he manages to get them to .500. He works and it does not come easy. He put in his years and I am sure life on the road is not always fun but he has passion for what he does. His teneacity is what we all have to find within ourselves. Vinny works through the system and succeeds. Success leaves clues; tenacity and commitment. Hope you enjoy the blog post.

Mark Yarnell, minister in a small town in Texas, was headed for bankruptcy and just about to lose his car and home. He looked for a way out and discovered network marketing. Luckily, he had a wise sponsor.
The sponsor gave Mark “THE PROMISE”. “This business can set you free financially in one to three years.” But he also gave him “THE PRICE” “To succeed, you will have to face and conquer 4 major enemies.”
Mark said, “It’s a deal.”
Mark began by inviting 200 friends over to his house to watch a video. 80 said “No, not interested”
– Mark had encountered ENEMY #1: Rejection.
He thought, “No problem. My sponsor warned me about that. I’ve got120 people still coming over.” Guess what?
– He had just encountered ENEMY #2: Deception.
Mark thought, “No problem. My sponsor warned me about that. I’ve got 70 people who watched the tape.” Guess what? 57 said “Not Interested”.
– He had just encountered ENEMY #3: Apathy.
Undaunted, Mark thought, “No problem. 13 people signed up.” Guess what? 12 of them dropped out of the business shortly thereafter.
- He had just encountered ENEMY #4: Attrition.
Attrition had left Mark with just one serious associate. But to this day, that single distributor earns Mark over $50,000 per month.
Mark Yarnell’s story is NOT Unique!
You may have heard of Bill Britt, one of the most successful distributors in Amway. Some years ago, 20/20 did a feature story on Amway. They spent 19 minutes interviewing whiners and complainers – several distributors who had failed and showed the garages full of products they couldn’t sell. During the last minute of the show, Mr. Britt was interviewed in front of his palatial home. He was asked, “Mr. Britt, this business has obviously worked for you. What’s your secret?”
He replied, “There is no secret. I simply showed the plan to 1200 people. 900 said, ‘No’ and only 300 signed up. Out of those 300, only 85 did anything at all. Out of those 85 only 35 were serious, and out of those 35, 11 made me a millionaire.” Like Mark Yarnell, Bill worked through the numbers.
Jason Boreyko, former co-founder of New Vision, told this story recently. When he was a distributor in Matol, he signed up 50 people. He heard a lot of “No’s” on the way to those 50. Jason took one man, who he knew would be terrific in the business to lunch, told him about the business and the man said “No.” Jason took the man to lunch again the next month and told him the updates. Once again the man said, “No.” Jason sent him some more information and took him to lunch again the next month. And again the man said, “No.” That went on for six months. The seventh month, something had changed for the man, and he said, “Yes.” That man made Jason over one million dollars. Jason also worked through his numbers.
According to Richard Poe in Wave Three while starting Amway, Rich DeVos and Jay Van Andel, America’s eleventh richest people, recruited 500 people. 495 dropped out. The five that didn’t quit built Amway. All $7 billion of Amway’s business was built under those 5 people. Jay and Rich had to work through their numbers. There are many similar stories. Jeff, the top money earner in Mannatech, signed up 27 people his first month.
One might think that he is especially talented at sponsoring. Actually, Jeff will be the first to tell you that he is not talented at all.
In fact, he feels that he did very poorly. To recruit those 27, Jeff talked to 2000 people that first month. And of the 27, the only one who did anything significant with the business was Ray Gebauer, who has more than half of Mannatech in his downline.
Jeff’s word to you is that the numbers never lie. Pick your goal and then get into massive action. If you talk to enough people, you will make it!
Here’s the lesson: Your success is directly related to the degree to which you are willing to work to find others like yourself who are committed to succeed. Mark Yarnell’s odds were 1 out of 50. (Jeff’s were really 1 out of 2000.) Would you be willing to go through 200 people to find the 1 who will make you $50,000 a month? Or go through 200 people to become a millionaire? Or hear uncounted “No’s” to sign up 50 people to find a million dollar person? I hope you will. It’s easier when you know the odds up front.
But here’s the catch: You have your own set of odds and you won’t know what they are until AFTER YOU’VE SUCCEEDED. So if you’ve gone through 50 or 100 people and you haven’t found 1 serious person yet, you can either give up and assume the business doesn’t work or recognize that you are working through your own numbers.
Are you willing to find out what your own set of odds is?
That means that you must pay the price for freedom. Remember that the numbers never fail you. Despite where you are in your skill level, your success is assured if you talk to enough people. And as your skill improves, so will your odds.
There is no such thing as luck in this industry. Winning big is a matter of being willing to pay the price.
Are you?
Your future is in your hands!
The choices which you make today will determine the course of your entire future.
There’s only one person who can make things happen!

Sponsoring MLM distributors into your downline can be difficult and frustrating. Especially when you’ve tried the techniques your company has taught you. So, what I’m going to do is share with you some tips on how to sponsor MLM distributors.

That way, you’ll be able to add dozens of people to your downline.

The tips on sponsoring MLM distributors are:

1. The first thing you need to do is find your target market, or the right people. This will make sponsoring new distributors easy. I know that your company probably has great products and one of the best compensation plans in the industry, but this isn’t something everyone will care about.

A great analogy for this would be if you sold the best steaks in the world. The right person wouldn’t be a vegetarian. It’ll be a meat lover. Someone who absolutely loves steaks. Think about how many steaks a true steak lover will buy. Probably hundreds of dollars worth. And if they’re good, the steak lover would buy the steaks for many years.

The same concept applies to your MLM business. So, if you want to recruit more distributors, you will need to find the right people.

2. Another tip on how to sponsor MLM distributors is to have an irresistible offer. Your offer should be really enticing and interested to the right person. It should make them want to either buy the product right then and there, or make them want more information about it.

3. The third thing you need to know if you want to recruit more distributors into your MLM business is to know how to overcome objections. This is very important if you want to add people into your downline. Also, knowing what to say and how to say it will help you attract people to your downline, too.

Which is how a lot of the top income earners are able to add dozens of people a month into their downline.

These are some tips on how to sponsor MLM distributors. If you are serious about growing your downline, make sure you use the tips that I mentioned above.

To Your Health and Prosperity,

Tom

Working at home is not easy as some people think it is. You will be faced with a number of challenges that include unforeseen distractions and a lack of structured time. Reap more of the rewards of working at home by following Alexandria Brown’s 10 simple ways to help you stay on track.

Ah, working at home… Visions of leisurely days, conference calls in comfy sweatpants, increased productivity with fewer interruptions. But the distinctions between work life and home life soon blur. You really should throw some laundry in the wash before you write that proposal. You have an hour before a meeting: Should you balance your books or clean the kitchen? And remember to call that client back right after you empty the cat box.

Welcome to the real world of working at home: unforeseen distractions, a lack of structured time, and sometimes a perceived loss of identity. But don’t give up the dream just yet! By putting into place a few simple ideas, you can reap more of the rewards of working at home. Based on my experiences and those of my associates, here are 10 simple ways to help you stay on track.

1. Separate Your Space. Keep a separate, distinct work area in your home. (This is especially difficult if you’re living and working in a shoebox studio, like I was when I started my business in New York City!) If you don’t have a separate room, at least define an area, and know that when you’re in it, you’re in “work mode.” Make sure your roommates and family are aware of this as well.

2. Structure Your Time. As your business and personal time mesh, it’s more important than ever to structure your day. For example, if you regularly take a walk or go to the gym, try to do it every day at the same time. Value that personal appointment with yourself – even when you’re very busy. It will actually help you keep your business on track! I like to get up early and work until noon, then I take a few hours off to enjoy lunch, do some reading, and take my daily jog on the beach. Then I’m back at my desk at 4:00 until who knows when!

3. Outsource All You Can. When I began my business, I made the mistake of acting as my own courier service. I soon learned how much time I was wasting by visiting clients too much just to pick things up and drop them off. Whenever you start thinking, “Well I can do that myself,” STOP. Streamline your business, making everything as automatic as possible. Use outside services to stay focused on your *real work*. Get accounts with an overnight delivery service, messenger service, virtual assistant (VA), bookkeeper, etc. Save your energy for your brilliant ideas!:)

4. Use Technology to Your Advantage. In-person meetings are very valuable when appropriate, but schedule them sparingly. Try to do most of your business via phone, fax, and e-mail using the best equipment you can afford. For most home-based entrepreneurs, when you’re out of the office, you’re NOT making money. So it’s important that you can communicate flawlessly from where you are. And PLEASE do us all a favor and get separate lines/services for your phone, fax, and Internet! No one likes getting a busy signal.
(BONUS TIP: If your phone company offers voicemail, get it. Not only will your outgoing message sound more professional, but if you’re on an important call and don’t want to be disturbed, other callers can still leave you a message.)

5. Group Your Errands. Try to group your meetings and errands together to minimize your out-of-office time. Make a list in the morning of all the outside tasks you need done for the day, and attempt to complete them in one fell swoop. Even better, do what I do and designate just one day a week as your “blitz” day for errands and meetings. I like doing this, because then I need to get dressed up only one day a week!:)

6. Stay Focused. Make your workspace off-limits to other roommates or family members when you’re working. For you animal lovers, this may go for pets as well. (My cat Francine gets *very* jealous when I’m not giving her complete attention!) Keep all personal paperwork such as bills and magazines out of sight, so as not to distract you from your projects.

7. Beware of Yappers. Many of your friends and family will be immediately delighted when they learn that you’re working at home. They picture you lounging on the couch, eating potato chips, and waiting for their calls. When they call you simply to chat, politely remind them that you’re working, and ask them if you can call them back after your day is over. It may take them awhile, but they’ll eventually “get it.”

8. Work With Your Moods. Keep track of your moods and productivity compared with the time of day. For example, if you find you’re more alert in the morning, use this time to make important calls and do your creative work. Take advantage of your natural cycles. If you feel better after an afternoon nap, go for it! (I’m a BIG proponent of the catnap. In fact, I may start a support group. :)

9. Suit Yourself. To bring out your best work, make your environment perfect for YOU. How do you work best? With plenty of breaks, or with no interruptions? In silence, or with some light music in the background? On a cushy couch and coffee table, or at a business desk in an ergonomic chair? (My friends thought I was nuts when I spent $700 on my Herman Miller Aeron chair, but they quickly understood why once they sat in it! And my spine thanks me every day.)
Also, find some places you can do work when you need a change of scenery. How about the library, the park, or your neighborhood coffee shop? When I need to do serious reading, thinking, or editing, I take my work outside to the beach. The sea air, sunshine, and soothing waves help me think much more clearly.

10. Break for People. Feeling sluggish, lonely, or moody? Arrange for at least one social break during the week. (I aim for two or three.) Schedule breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even just coffee with a client, vendor, or friend. Join a business networking group, or sign-up for social activities such as dance class or recreational sports league. Don’t go into hermit mode – it can be self-destructive!

To Your Success,

I am writing this Blog Post to help motivate and inspire not just you, but me. When I put my thoughts to print it drives and inspires me. I love the energy I feel when I share a better way. I am so grateful for so many things that Network Marketing provided me in my life. More often than not, I forget all the wonderful events, available time, cash flow and mobility that my MLM business afforded me. After all, the currency of the New Rich is time and mobility. Now, I am back in full force after more than a decade of a living Hell running a Public Company. My hope for you is to NOT have to live the Deferred Life. By Deferred Life, I mean the life that most of Americans live by. They work 40-50 years and then live their lives in retirement, if that is still possible. They save it all for the end only to find that life has passed them by.

Almost 7 years ago my Father was diagnosed with Cancer back in CT. Thus began the numerous trips from Utah to CT. As the Cancer progressed and my Father’s health diminished the trips increased in frequency. My Father passed away that Valentine’s Day of 2004. Looking back, I am very grateful that I was not living the Deferred Lifestyle. I was fortunate to be able to afford to travel so many times to CT and spend so much time with my Dad and family. I was not restrained by time spent away or finances.

Recently, as of last week, my youngest Daughter accepted a scholarship to a very well known University in Orange County, CA. If I lived the Deferred Lifestyle I would not likely to be able to see my daughter as often as I would like for the next 4 years other than a few Holidays. Now, my Mother is aging and on her own in CT. I also need to spend some quality time with her over the coming years. The Non-Deferred Lifestyle is a necessity for me.

With the aging Baby-Boomers and terrible economic times it is clear that most of us need more than ever, the Non-Deferred Lifestyle. The demands on our time, work and finances are challenged every day. The stress and fears of just living is taking its toll on everyone virtually everywhere. I hope you will take this post to heart and devote some time researching, joining and building a Network Marketing business. Good luck in Designing your Life before it passes you by. For me, it seems like just yesterday that I was walking my daughter Ashley into her Kindergarten Class.
